Pauline Timmerbeil

Pauline Timmerbeil is a musician and artist from Germany, and bass guitar teacher at Jacobiberg. She studied bass guitar at ArtEZ in Arnhem and graduated in the summer of 2025. Before that, she was completely self-taught (learning to play, write, and create all on her own). That creative drive still runs through everything she does. Whether it’s music, painting, or conceptual work for stage and film, Pauline always brings her own spark and a love for doing things a little differently.
Music & Projects
Pauline loves playing funk, rock, punk, and blues, and writes her own songs in the alternative indie genre. With her solo project, she wrote and produced a full album. Besides that, she plays in several bands across the Netherlands, Germany, and Belgium: Magic Bullet (funk rock), OH HAZAR (art rock), Fee Aaij 4tet (jazz punk), THE DAY (indie pop).
Teaching & Workshops
Pauline has been teaching bass and guitar for years and has also led band workshops in Germany and as far as Nairobi, Kenya. For her, music is a way to connect people across borders and cultures.
What to Expect in Her Lessons
Pauline’s all about groove, character, and fun. Her lessons are hands-on and personal; no endless theory, but lots of playing, listening, and improvising. Reading sheet music isn’t required; it’s all about feeling the rhythm, finding your sound, and playing together. She helps students discover their own voice on the instrument and understand their role in a band, because that’s where the real creativity happens. Pauline also encourages students to write their own songs and explore what makes their music unique.
Since she regularly performs with bands and drummers, she puts a big focus on timing, listening, and musical communication. And she’s passionate about supporting more women in music, especially on the bass – because the stage could use a bit more balance!
Pauline teaches on Mondays and Tuesdays.
Levels: beginner to intermediate.
Languages: English, simple Dutch, or German.
